PROJECT KAREEB is a rehabilitation programme essentially for ex-convicts but was also adapted for the under trials
REHABILITATION OF VICTIMS OF TRAFFICKING, ABUSE AND VIOLENCE:
Keertika runs a shelter under the aegis of VITAL ITALY and The Hope Foundation, meant for trafficked or abused girls. The inmates of the home are being provided with food, clothing and medical facility. Both formal and vocational education is being given to them.
REHABILITATION OF VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:
Keertika runs a shelter under the aegis of SWADHAAR scheme of Ministry of Women and Child Development, meant for victims of domestic violence. The inmates of the home are being provided with food, clothing, vocational training and medical facility.
RIGHTS OF PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED/DIFFERENTLY-ABLED:
The defenseless are the ones that are the most victimized in our society. The physically challenged or the differently abled are the first in this list. The problem is compounded if there is need financial aid or entitlement. Keertika’s legal team ensures that their rights are not encroached on.
FAMILY AND PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELLING:
A major part of Keertika’s day to day activity is providing counseling to individual and families. The counseling team comprises of certified counselors and psychiatrists.
PSYCHIATRIC AND PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELLING FOR THE UNDER-TRIALS:
Keertika’s PROJECT KOSHISH is the legal assistance and human rights wing that provides psychiatric and psychological counseling is provided to convicts and under-trial prisoners.
LEGAL AWARNESS CAMP:
Keertika recently organized a two days Legal Awareness Camp in collaboration with West Bengal Commission for the women of Amgachia, Bishnupur Block I. It was an outreach program that drew in women as well as men. The need for such legal camps in rural West Bengal was brought home by this exercise. Keertika identified several cases there and has taken up their cause. Keertika has roused and inspired the women of the area, who now formed a similar association of their own.
Keertika has tried to provide an earning scheme for the under-trials via PROJECT KAJAL.
Keertika holds an open to all discussion session every month which are brainstorming sessions upon issues and problems threatening the holistic development of the society.
Keertika has collaborated with LAWYERS’ COLLECTIVE to hold training with lawyers of District and State Legal Services Authority to hold training especially on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence [PWDV] Act 2005, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences [POCSO] 2012 and Sexual Harrasment of Women in Workplace [Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal] Act 2013.
